Since Acquia puts modules in the /themes or /modules directory, Drush will sometimes duplicate rather than update (ie. acquia themes.) Ideally, should support this, but even a warning would be great.

use the destination param for dl command. you can put it in your drushrc. you are not supposed to put your own modules in /modules. acquia does not want you updating their stuff through drush anyway. thats kinda the point of using acquia distro.

Definitely just wasted a few hours on this. Do not use Drush with Acquia. One problem just leads to the next.
