I would like to import PDF and Word documents much like the image_import module that comes packaged with the image module. I can upload files via FTP and then import them and a node is created for each one and I can attach taxonomy to the batch of nodes as they are imported.

Any idea if there is a module already like this out there? I have found various import modules but none that create a separate node like the image import one does.

any help would be great!
