After enabling the modules I go to my content type edit page and I dont see the option to select the 'Enable "send this item" functionality' box as indicated in the install.txt. Has anyone else had this trouble? I've gone over this several times I don't get it.

I have this problem too. I even tried installing this module on 3 different sites and I have met this problem everytime.

When I visit the report logs I can see the following php error from when I have visited the admin/settings/send.

"mysql_real_escape_string() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/*/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 321."

Could this be the cause of the problem?

I've the same problem....
the warning "mysql_real_escape_string() "

and no options to enable this module via block or option...

I am having the same issue.
will have to find an alternative as this issue is unattended since Feb this year - 6 months.

This module is under active development. The pending version (alpha4 or higher) includes a separate "Send to friend" module that includes the per-node functionality.
