That would be fine to get such a function.

I'm very interessed in this because I want to use imagemagick. For imagemagick there are currently not all functions support at imagecache actions. So I think we have to use raw action.

Yeah, I like the idea! My next task with im_raw will be figuring out a drupal-7 upgrade though. How to do it, assuming it's possible.

You might have to look at creating a custom imagecache action module in the mean time.

At this point I have little personal interest in adding this feature, but patches are welcome.
