I just installed the cvs version of cck. (dated June 13th, 2006). The 4.7 version has the same date and time.

I am surprised that there seems to have no option to have the usual "submitted by" information.

I tried turning on userreference, but that simply meant I could associate the node with any user on the site, not just myself.

I tried adding the "author/maintainer" field that comes prepackaged. That me a blank field that I can add anything to (any word, not just a username) It also returned errors.

Since I'm surprised that "submitted by" info does not come as an option (and I don't see it as an issue for cck), I thought maybe I am missing something obvious.

(Tip to others trying cck: I had to run update.php every time I activated a module from the cck suite.)

Mariun,

I'm not sure what you mean by "doesn't have the usual submitted by info".

Are you saying that when you view a completed CCK node, you cannot see who submitted it?

Patrick,
thank you! someone else had said I had to theme it in.

but it is indeed an option.

admin -- themes -- configure.

when you sounded puzzled I figured it out. thank you.

This option is just what I want to know. By the way, if a site with multilingual languages by i18n, one needs switch to each language to select the "submitted by" option for each language. It works for my site.

Do you think CCK is stable enough to use now (July 11th?)

I'm using it on all but one site (the austinblowers one that you saw) that I run.

There are still a few niggly problems but most stuff can be sorted out.

have a look at the contemplate module - you can customise and theme the way your cck outputs. it lets you build custom teasers and pages by choosing different available variables and fields
