It would be good to have some full config walkthroughs. You start with a person who has a very specific goal and from the point of drupal already installed and the admin account created. Then watch them get to their specific goals.
There are a number of quite simple topics I am puzzled by, and watching someone go through what, likely to you, are obvious steps would be really helpful. And a few different design cases to try to catch what people may or may not need along the way.

From just having set up a new Drupal user a week or so back, I can identify one issue:
Once you've installed Drupal and you're creating your admin account, Drupal tells you it's going to MAIL you your password.
And of course that's not true; Drupal will SHOW you the password on your next screen.
But you have no way to know that. So you're in a needless dilemma before you even get started.
This ought to be fixed. Drupal should tell you what's really going to happen.
Cordially,
J Swami
