Why is it cropping even though I chose only "scale"?

I would like to have only the small profile pictures to be scaled and cropped to a small rectangular image. For the full size profile picture I would like to have a maximum width of 230px but can be any height.

So I created the following Imageache preset:
- Scale 230px width, allow upscaling
- Rounded Corners 5px, no anti-alias
- Change File Format to PNG

However, a perfect picture of size 15x10 (HxW) is scaled and cropped down to 190x230 (HxW) and with a big black box because the crop is not correct.
