Is this module abondoned? the last check-in was almost 6 months ago despite some patches available from community. Do we need to openly request community for new maintainers?

AntiNSA commentedMust we use og panels? Is it possible to use og with normal panels?
Branjawn commentedAntiNSA, see this thread, I've done it and it worked for me. One panels layout is applied to all my groups.
#553456: HOWTO: create a panels homepage for organic group nodes?
AntiNSA commentedThanks a lot I will give it a good read asap!

rc2020 commentedI am also interested in seeing if this module has a future. Default layouts can easily be applied in panels using node id contexts, but providing the ability to override those layouts for certain groups would be very useful.
How stable is this module currently? Is there a timetable to a stable release?
Thanks!

boran commentedFor me its stable, more stable than the panels UI itself, which keeps losing settings for me..

merlinofchaos commentedThat's probably a problem with 'Update and save' in the latest release. That's fixed in -dev and you can work around the problem by always doing a refresh right after using update and save.
As for whether this module is abandoned: I believe the answer is 'no', however, the maintainers do not appear to be actively paying attention to its issue queue at this time. I have a feeling a co maintainer is needed.

boran commentedPanels: i noticed that by doing a preview first then save, the content changes are properly saved.

jimthunderbird commentedFor me I think this module can fit into quite a bit of use cases, it is very useful. I will try my best to contribute my knowledge in Drupal and help solve as many issues as possible whenever I have time.
Best Regards,
Jim

boran commentedFYI: I found it easiest just to override the tpl for the og home page, and add in views of the items that interested me.
The panels layout was also a bit too restrictive and its almost as quick to work with a tpl and css file once you roll up your sleeves ...

jimthunderbird commentedHi Boran,
I agreed with what you said from a web developer perspective, but for people who do not know coding too much, og panels allow them to be able to use a dreamweaver like interface to quickly form a mock up right inside of drupal. Also, you could choose the flexible layout which is the least restrictive. I think Drupal is not only a web framework for web developer, it is a service for many other people as well.
Best Regards,
Jim

arrow_ben commentedI think this module is very cool and would like it to evolve. Unfortunately, there are question marks surrounding its future.
@ merlinofchaos - Is it possible to use the Chaos Tools Plug-in feature to circumvent Organic Panels module or as an alternative to the OG panels module?

populist commentedThis module is not abandoned, but many of the issues get lost in the noise when joshk or I do not have an active project that requires it. I agree with merlinofchaos that we need a co-maintainer to help.
I am going to request that jimthunderbird receive co-maintainer status. He has contributed many patches to this module and I have worked with him directly on next steps for the module (we are both located in SF).
Onward and upward for OG Panels.
