Every time the system runs cron it seems to run cron twice as I see two
entries for it in the log. But, if I run cron manually then it only runs
once.
The duplicate run of cron is sending out system messages twice (when I run
cron manually system messages / notifications are only sent once).
How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I haven't come
across a solution so far.
Thanks

It's setup to run from the server every hour with a cronjob and we aren't using any other cron modules (poormanscron, etc.). Any ideas?
Thanks for help.
Cron job
Just for chuckles I went to my host cpanel and checked the cron job tab. I see that it is possible to schedule more than one cron job at one time. You might want to check the cron job tab and see that only one has been set up. It that isn't it, I have no other answers. If the host server is running the cron, that is where I would go to seek answers.

Thank u for your help in this. Your answer had us go back and thoroughly check the server and cron was, indeed, being initialized by accident from another site on the server. Once we fixed the duplication stopped.
Thanks again for the help,
