On my user page have the following tabs:
- View
- Edit (i.e. account settings)
- Profile (i.e. content profile)

When clicking on "Profile" the next page (to edit the content profile) shows only the following tabs:
- View
- Profile (i.e. content profile)

Can that be changed??

You change all those settings on your Content Management >> Content Type >> Profile >>Content Profile Tab,
There a lot of option available to what and how should your content profile be made visible to the user or on user account page

this is a bug - follow here #419662: User's Edit tab disappears when in the Profile tab (separate tabs option rather than sub-tab option)
