Problems with open_basedir enabled

Hi there,

this is first post on drupal.org, although I've successfully themed and installed a couple of sites with Drupal, I do have a installation problem on one of my webservers that uses the open_basedir directive. When I disabled the open_basedir in php.ini, the Drupal installation runs flawless as always.

Once open_basedir is enabled again, the page load is extremingly slow. Of course, permission are set correctly.

I haven't found a solution for that. Is there any kind of known workaround to use Drupal with open_basedir.
