Hello all,

I am trying to start a social network website and was wondering if its doable with Drupal?

Are there any modules to start a social network site? how do I go about this?

There was a recent success story posted about developing a professional social network here.

Towards the end there is a list of modules they used - this has been pretty helpful to me in going down the same path.

Here's another example of a golf social networking site that brings together instructors and students. Also has a list of modules and a description of the custom modules that were developed for it.

Depending on your needs you might consider using Ning.com or Go Social. Both services are very easy to set up and offer a lot of flexibility when creating a social network.

I only offer this advice because, while Drupal can do everything you want it to, there is certainly a learning curve to get a site up and running which might not be worth it when all you need is a simple solution.
