creating hovers

hi,

an hour ago i read the tutorial posted on the project page, about using textimage for primary links. then i testet it with a fresh installed drupal 6.16 and garland.
the image (http://www.deciphered.net/sites/default/files/blog/2009/05/14/howto_text...) in the tutorial it shows all states in one image, and there are 3 textareas in the preview. at my install there are not 3 textareas, only one and i do not have all 3 states in the preview.
vertical tabs are not used, but they are installed (i can see them on create page for example).
then i modified the template.php and overwrote theme_links. one image appeared bot only one.

did i miss something?
