I have tested Drupal without this patch today. Plural form and plural string export were broken. Applied this patch, exported the my PO file again, and diffed the files. The patch fixed everything, the plural formula is nice, the plural strings are properly grouped, not separated as before.

IMHO this fix should go into Drupal 4.7.x and 5.0.0
