Is there any volunteer to port this great module to Drupal 7? this because this is on of the few modules that will stop the update to D7 when the finale release is out...

ps; i choice 6.x-2-dev because there is no 7 :)

Bump, D7 is already on Alpha 4, and with some luck the next release will be the first beta :)

Does anyone know if Vadim is still updating this project? If he's not, I'm gonna look at porting some of the functionality from the 6.x-2.x code and create a new D7 module from it. I guess it'll be a branch ;)

I hope so...
(Subject changed for tracking)

vb made his last commit 10 weeks ago... I sure hope he's active.
But i'm sure it's fine if you start submitting patches to the dev code here (because then we can run it through drupal's testing system for D7 and know if it has any problems)

AdrianC-1’s picture

10wks ago would be only just after the release of RC1, needed for 3.0.8 - and RC1, to be honest, isn't the best tested of releases. I fear his heart's not in it any more. Maybe real life's just intruding.

Wish I could throw something into the ring here - but I can't even get to grips with the CSS issue I'm having...

l33tdawg’s picture

I'm working on porting the RC1 version rather than -dev; RC1 is working fine for everyone running D6 right? Anyway, for what it's worth:

Coder found 1 projects, 44 files, 6 critical warnings, 471 normal warnings, 0 warnings were flagged to be ignored

This might take a while :)

l33tdawg’s picture

AdrianC-1’s picture

l33tdawg - Yes, RC1 working basically just fine, subject to the couple of caveats I've documented elsewhere - minor patch hiccups and a style glitch.

I'm very happy to do some testing, if it's of help.

darksniperx’s picture

that would be nice if this module will get more devellopers on it. I have checked the forum for D7 and there isnt much change from D6, which means that this module is definitely needed.

vb’s picture

Hi all,

Thanks for help in porting the module to D7.
On this weekend i will release RC2 which differs from RC1.
So it would be better to start porting to D7 RC2 from Monday, 14
I think we will made the D7 very quickly with your help.

Great to hear that you're still on this project, VB.

l33tdawg’s picture

Hey Vadim! Great to see you're still around man :)

Could you drop me an email (l33tdawg@hackinthebox.org)? Wanna talk to you about the changes in the RC2 release you're planning for Monday. Also, have you already started work on a D7 version of phpbbforum or not yet?

vb’s picture

Just started.
There will be the new block New forum topics and the new table representation of all resent blocks.
New setting phpBB3 admin id can be specified id=2 default.
Fixed login with openid.
Fixed some bugs.
I have decided to backport these new features from the next version and include them already in 6 RC2.

l33tdawg’s picture

Sounds good mate - looking forward to the RC2 release on Monday!

l33tdawg’s picture

Just to keep everyone else updated, both AdrianC and myself have made donations to vb to get an alpha port of phpbbforum ready for Drupal D7. VB has confirmed that he's already begun porting functions over but it's early days yet.

Anyway, if you have a project or a somewhat 'critical' need for this D7 module, I would suggest you make a donation as well - there are a LOT of API changes between D6 and D7 and considering the amount of functions and complexity in the phpbbforum module, this is a huge undertaking for anyone!

IMHO I think Vadim has been doing a phenomenal job with this project thus far!

I don't think it's top secret, so I'll repost... VB's just sent an email out to those of us who've donated :-

Hi all

Sorry for delay.

The module starts breathing.
Admin settings works, authentication works.
The user data sync and profiles2 is not ready at all.
On this week i will be testing and debugging the main features.

The work is in progress but not so fast as we all want.

Regards
Vadim

I am also very interested in the outcome of this module. Best of luck to VB!

Many features have been ported already. Now testing and fixing bugs.
The module is near to alpha1.

have you a devel version for us or something else?

l33tdawg’s picture

Not to rush you, but even an alpha release would be great VB - at least we can start testing ;)

rogierbom’s picture

Hey vb, how are things coming along? I'm gonna be needing this functionality pretty soon, and I'd rather use an existing module than develop something myself. I'm a full-time php developer with Drupal knowlegde, and am willing to invest time. So please let me know how I can help.

Maybe you can release an alpha so we can start testing and submit patches?

Geex2011’s picture

very interested as well.....

vb’s picture

Hi all,
I have made 1st dev release http://drupal.org/node/217343
If it will be successful, i will make alpha1.

vb’s picture

You can get and test it right now
git clone --branch 7.x-1.x http://git.drupal.org/project/phpbbforum.git

Hi VB,

I'm testing the module at localhost. I noticed some issues that I want to tell ...

The first: when you create the topic in PHPBB I can only have the link to the node, without any content, I tried with both options (Teaser and Full node content), but nothing.

The second: the topic links in the node is not correct, or rather the last link of the node is of type: http://localhost/drupal7/?q=/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24#p24

when it should be:

http://localhost/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24#p24

the fact is that: if I insert a new content, the above link be fixed.

Awaiting your response, good job ;-)

The bugs for Drupal 7 integration seem to be ironing themselves out, which is good news! Though the documentation really, really needs to be cleaned up.

One issue I'm running into is that things like "move" and "lock" topic don't work when embedded; but work fine via /phpBB3/ access.

You can see my efforts here: http://lavidaleica.com/forum

Keep up the good work, VB! And not to rush you, but... :p

I have installed the DEV release, however when I enter the drupal 7 modual > PHPBB > Configuration my entire screen goes white, and I have to refresh the main page. Any Suggestions? Possibly configure it manually?

Is the 7.x-1.x branch a port of the 6.x-2.x one ?
I am really interested in 2.x features

Thank you

WolfSoul’s picture

Ok small question.. do you have to install phpbb3 in a predefined folder, can I for example use /forum (under main drupal site of course) or does it need to be /phpbb3 or /phpbbforum (I think it had to be in previous versions, that's why Im asking)

kisugiai’s picture

you can use forum or xxyy folder if you use forum then should be the core forum deaktivad
the res is in url aliases defined

WolfSoul’s picture

Ok so now I installed and configured.. only instead of linking my forum blocks to http://www.forcesoftao.be/main/forum it links to www.forcesoftao.be/forum/ (from http://www.forcesoftao.be/main/)
And well I also got no phpbbforumsettings in my drupal backend.. I have to go to modules and click on configure for phpbbforum in the modulelist

WolfSoul’s picture

Ok only fix I can think of.. and have done before as I recall is putting phpbb3 on the same level (meaning outside) as Drupal
