I use Bluefish Hosting as my web server and I added a couple of modules (and a theme) but do not see them as options on my Drupal site. I manually extracted and copied over the files so I know they have been "unzipped." Any advice would be appreciated - I'm a beginner.

Probably a mod will move this soon, since this topic has nothing to do with module development.

in which folder did you upload the modules? they should go into sites/all/modules in their respective own folder, then you can activate them in Site building > Modules. Then follow the respective readme how to use the module.
