I have just created a new Drupal site by adding a new entry to /sites/site2.site.tld/settings.php, I've added two pages and this

Welcome to your new Drupal-powered website. This message will guide you through your first steps with Drupal, and will disappear once you have posted your first piece of content.

The first thing you will need to do is create the first account. This account will have full administration rights and will allow you to configure your website. Once logged in, you can visit the administration section and set up your site's configuration.

Drupal comes with various modules, each of which contains a specific piece of functionality. You should visit the module list and enable those modules which suit your website's needs.

Themes handle the presentation of your website. You can use one of the existing themes, modify them or create your own from scratch.

We suggest you look around the administration section and explore the various options Drupal offers you. For more information, you can refer to the Drupal handbooks online.

still shows up to anoynmous users caching is disabled and they have the right access privelages to access the content. Any ideas?

Are the pages `promoted to frontpage'

And have you set default homepage to be `node'? (in admin/settings - general)

using release of July 14th 2006 over an older 4.7 database. Worked OK on a similar update, but not on this one...I can't get it to go with the www.mightyzero.com url, but if i write in /node or /index.php it comes up with the sticky posts on front page ok when I am logged as User 1. But when I am not logged in, I get the Welcome. Users not logged in unwittingly go to the "Welcome to your new Drupal-powered website".

I even created new users and still wont go.

Please help us..
Drupal version: 4.7.2
only if a set "administer node" to anonymous users the content appears...

What???? Admin node to anon user? That's ridiculuous :o

You should set:
Access content (access node) - for anonymous

Absolutley right. Fixed it with sql query as given in http://drupal.org/node/64114 to re-instate node_access permissions. You say due to uninstalling it incorrectly.

What I had done: A mature 4.7 database was installed from a dump, a fresh drupal installation of 4.7 and an attempted update (redundant). With a 'bad' htaccess in place, I had been asked to create a first user when caling the site, which I attempted out of curiosity. The htaccess file had to be removed it seemed damaged (did no open). I got the site up folllowing that, but with our present problem. (Meanwhile, I mirrored these actions on a test site with no problem).

BTW what is the procedure for uninstalling access tables?

Many thanks for postiing the soloution which I did not get in my searches (because of the quote marks in the title?). Headaches gone. Spirits lifted. Can now work on creative admin.

I'm not having the problem with the Welcome message showing up first but now it's showing up at the end of my frontpage promoted nodes. so you have to scroll through messages to get there but there it is. If I wipe my node access table does that mean I have to reset all the users? Yikes.
