I've done some work on the drupal dependency system. I'd like to get feedback and ideas.
In particular I'd like to know if how appealing would be to the drupal community the idea to
add debian-style metadata to modules and to extend drush support to act a bit more like
apt.

I believe there's already work going on in this area-- you should be able to find it in either the drupal or drush issue queues i think.
Broken links for dependency graphs?
I might be missing something here, but I tried to look at some of your dependency graphs by clicking on some links (e.g. for upload.pdf) and I got 'file not found' each time.
That was after I went through a couple of dialogs to reassure FireFox that your https web site address was pukka without valid security certificates, which might put people off viewing your interesting article :-) BTW, IE, Safari and Opera complain as well.
Anyway, this sounds really interesting, and valuable, even for Drupal learners if they are technically-minded.
