Hello,

I represent GHS who's currently planning on changing CMS. Drupal is high on our list of candidates. We'd like to know if there's an official commercial enterprise level Drupal support program? I didn't find any information on the site that says there is.

If not, we'd love some recommendations to third party companies offering such a support program and an estimate of what kind of cost we're looking at.

Thanks
Mike Gregoire

Thanks VM, but I've been to that page. If you look under paid services it's just a long listing of third party companies without any information. I'd like more info from Drupal.org directly or recommendations/details from others who have had experience with third party companies.

Well yea on the surface without any real leg work I suppose one could view the list that narrowly in scope. When I first read the list, I may have thought that way too.

It did not take me long to expand my horizons and when I did, I realized that I could click on the 3rd party provider company name link. Then I could read what the companies have said about themselves. On that page, one can also do some research into who wrote the page (usually the community member that owns or works for it), with that I can research profiles, tracker of the associated individual/s, the modules they built, the documentation they've supplied. All of these factors are important when considering a source.

I suppose it is worth a note that the list isn't thrown together all willy nillly and with no rhyme or reason. A process must be gone through via the issue queue to be listed on that page, which I believe is indeed discussed in that page. Therefore, some of the legwork is already done for users who visit and utilize that list.

You learn about quite a few companies and individuals within those companies that are interwoven with drupal and have been for a long time.

Yeah, I discovered that and have been clicking through them. There seems to be a lot of design services and custom module services among them. I wish there were sub-divisions. Not easy to find companies that focus on support. Also, the most interesting link was the one Michelle posted… acquia. That's not even in the list. From what I can tell, I would have never found that via the site, had Michelle not posted it.

Thanks again.

Not sure why acquia isn't posted considering the founder of drupal is a co-founder of acquia.

That's what I was wondering. I did just find it listed under hosting. Not under services. Since the company offers both services, you'd think they'd be listed under both sections.

:shruggs shoulders: could be an oversight.

I don't know why they aren't, either. That was why I made a separate comment to point you to them. Enterprise support is their thing and I was surprised to see them not on the list. Possibly because they are different from normal Drupal companies that build websites for clients?

Thank you Michelle. That looks interesting.

There is no official support program. A number of companies do provide payed support; those links have already been posted above.

I highly recommend Acquia. They're the only Drupal company with a business model dedicated almost entirely to enterprise support, and I've had only great experiences with them.

Thank you for the recommendation. They do look quite interesting. Now, are you required to be hosted by them to have support? Or do they offer support services independent of hosting? It's bit difficult to figure that out from their site.

most Acquia support customers are not hosted by Acquia - it's a contract/subscription just for support and included network services.
