I think it would be great if the Author could have a link to view email reports that would include copies of the emails that were sent to him/her .. right on the site. Maybe even be able to reply using the site?

If Author Contact would include this, its features would approach those of Privatemsg.

Does the Privatemsg module fit your needs?

Yes. I use privatemsg module for users to communicate between themselves... but I believe that it does not provide a form on nodes, also Author Contact allows Anonymous users to send the messages, which is what I need.
So.. overall you're right, I need a feature like in Privatemsg but for this Module, so Authors could view their emails on the site but from Anonymous visitors. It would be great if that was possible. :)
