We are a human rights organisation. We had a website using Joomla, but the site starts getting very slow. Hence, we closed it. A friend advised us to use Drupal. We bought a photoshop design for a site.

We are looking to use it with Drupal to create our site. We would very much appreciate your advice. The problem we are facing that out finnacial ability is very weak as most of us are students, hence we can not afford hire a developer, but we can pay sometging

if the site was getting slow with Joomla (do you know why?) it might come to the same with Drupal, particularly if you don't know why it got slow.

what are your actual needs? Drupal is very powerful, and while it can be used for basic sites, it's more suited to power complex and interactive sites. Due to its complexity, Drupal is quite tough in terms of resources needed, though there are means to get around this. Basically, Drupal on a cheap shared host can work when the site isn't much frequented and you keep it fairly basic.

Alternatives I would suggest, depending on your needs are Wordpress and/or a Facebook Page.

Thats absolutely right, if your site is going slow with joomla that is less resource intensive than drupal. It might happen with drupal too.
Try solving the problem with your joomla site probably you should the exact cause of the problem before taking any decisions.
