It would be great if Hypergraph supported the visualization of relationships between nodes done with CCK's nodereference.

Also, are there any similar modules out there? I haven't come across any yet.

this would be the ideal way to map relationships.
For d7 - we should just do entity reference fields - http://drupal.org/project/ref_field -> then you could really display some neat stuff with hypergraph
