Hi,
I have a Drupal installation using CKEditor 6.x-1.0. Also I've installed IMCE module for the uploads. The thing is, it shows properly in Firefox but in IE it appears empty. I have the include/exclude text but a blank space in the body. And if I switch to plain text editor, nothing happens.
I configured the editor profiles to include the editor in *@node/add/*.edit-body, but no luck...
Does anyone have the same problem? anyone can help?
Thanks!

michaeldhart commentedI'm having the same problem with IE8. Works with Firefox 3.6. I'm getting the following error from IE8:
'$.styleSheet' is null or not an object in sites/all/ckeditor/ckeditor/ckeditor.js line 37 character 482
Same problem? different?
snlnz commentedDid this issue get resolved?
I have similar problem with message being "theme" not stylesheet.
michaeldhart commentedStill unresolved for me... but I haven't done any more digging myself yet.
michaeldhart commentedSo...turning on CSS Optimization under admin/settings/performance seems to have fixed this. No issues then. Anyone else?
goye2cz commentedI had the same results with Explorer 7 and 8 as the OP described and I am using CKeditor and CKfinder. I can confirm that turning on CSS Optimization did the trick in my case. BTW, was really happy to find this post with a solution that works!
Emma Bennett commentedTurning on CSS Optimisation (and JavaScript Optimisation) also worked for me when I had the same issue with IE 7 and 8 (editor not showing, but working in Firefox and Safari).
swede_on commentedYes, turn on CSS optimisation (admin/settings/performance). I had problem with IE 8 and now it works just fine. Thanks!
snlnz commentedI found that certain modules (particularly modules under development) can break some javascript functionality.
Knowing this, I went through and disabled unnecessary modules one by one until the issue was fixed. Particular point to take note: only use modules you absolutely need.
Note: thanks to katiebot for pointing out the possibility.
In certain circumstances you may not be able to enable caching when theme developing as to the delay in flushing cache in between changes.

ggevalt commentedWe upgraded to CKeditor from FCKeditor and had the same issue. We, too, found resolution when we turned on CSS optimizer. HOWEVER, by doing so, we discovered that this will break Lightbox2. Catch-22 that, frankly, we did not have time to research and resolve because of deadlines... SO, we reverted back to FCKeditor for the moment.
ALSO, and since this is a general category of issues with CKeditor and IE and Firefox... we discovered that in Firefox, embedding code, say a youtube video or the like, in plaintext in CKeditor had some odd behaviors; interestingly, worked fine in IE.

AliveAgain commentedTry to switch off or deinstall IE7PRO (if running) when CKEditor doesn't show up. This was the reason for CKEditor not showing up sometimes or throwing error messages with several of my webpages.
Compel commentedIEPro and IE7Pro are not the problem on our system. I checked on a computer that is not running either (Running Windows 7 and IE 8.0.7xxx.
Trying the "%M" method worked one time. Then it reverted back to the same behavior.

Compel commentedAn addendum:
I discovered this problem exists only for Acquia Fusion themes (Acquia Marina in particular) on our site. The best short term solution for us is to use the CSS Optimizer module as the problem appears to be related to IE's limitation on the number of stylesheets.
CKEditor's "incompatability" with these themes should be documented along with the CSS Optimizer solution. If it is documented (specifically for Fusion themes), my apologies -- I've invested a week trying to search this out.

herojig commentedThis fixed it for me (/performance/optimize CSS/JS on). thx! The error that IE 8 was throwing was this under OSX VMWare:

The thing I am worried about now, something other module told me to turn off the optimization, but I can't remember which one now - so it goes...
dkinzer commentedI'm still wondering what the fix is if optimization is not an option (as when private files is turned on) :/
Comment #18
herojig commentedI know, this is a bit of mess. Two other problems with CKedit that I have: no matter what I do I can't get it too appear in comments, but it appears in replies to comments, new posts for all node types, etc. ha! Also, what's up with the spell check: not on by default, and with adverts! Do I have to buy SCYAT? My test site is here:
http://animalnepal.org/drupal_hum userid tester pw tester as i have not enabled email yet.
This is my first ever drupal...love it, but damn it's complicated!

dczepierga commentedPls update CKEditor module to last DEV version and CKEditor library to last stable version. There everything seems to work good.
We fix it in the other issue, so for now it shouldn't be problem with it.
Greetings
Comment #20
marceli commentedI have the lastest module & editor and it still doesn't show in IE9 :/
Comment #21
marceli commentedComment #22
snlnz commented@marcel you more than likely have a conflicting module that breaks the javascript used to display the ckeditor. Go through and disable any javascript/jquery based modules one by one first testing as you disable each one until you get it working.
Please document here which module is the culprit.
dczepierga commented@marceli, first of all -don't open old closed issue. Create new issue with your problem, check that u don't have any errors in Firebug, pls write list of all your installed (enabled) modules, etc.
Greetings
