When I add the field 'User: Link to contact page' to any view, I get an error message.

Also, forgot to note that the affected view does not display. (It's a 'white page of death'.)

Are you using RealName? I've found that Realname takes over some of the contact.page.inc functions of contact, and is incompatible with the backport.
