im new to drupal and just noticed 'create content' was missing from my menu, and it was there not long ago. i am not sure what occurred for that to go missing ( installed some basic modules like og, but that was it). it is also no longer visible in administration>menu>navigation either. Im not sure what steps to take to get this back, or if there is a path i can just re-add as a new menu item, and recreate the 'create content'. menu option.

any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure what happened, but a menu link to node/add should do the trick.

Mine went missing too after upgrading from 6.14 to 6.16...........
