I understand that for working properly I have to allow users the right to create nodes of CCK type "Content Profile" (or however you wanna call you custom profile). However, this will also lead to the possibility of creating more than one profiles, e.g. by clicking on "Create Content" a user will see a list of blog, story, event, etc. including "content profile", so he can create more and more content of that type.

How can I disable that?
