Global: View result counter - option to set the results to dsc

I am not sure if this should be a feature request or if there is an established way of acheiving the desired results

We are looking for an option to set the 'Global: View result counter' to DSC

User case

I would like to create a view that returns the total number of entries within the view results. Having an option to set the view results counter to DSC would acheive this and save a lot of pain in either theaming or custom PHP

Presnetly you can set a serach criteria on Global random (which doesnt help) and it seems that there is no sort sort option on the feild if the views style is set to table.

This would be a great feature since it would instantly enable users to perform a count on the number of entries within the returned results

ie -
Number of cats = %122%
Number of dogs = %35%
etc

There may be a better way of acheiving this, so any advice would be greatfully received
