Would workflow prevent me from unpublishing nodes? I have a bunch of nodes on a pre-existing site. I installed workflow and a little utility that changes existing nodes into a certain workflow state. I need everything to be in the state "paid" which would make everything publish. Then I found out that there were certain nodes that needed to stay unpublished and now I can't unpublish them. If I open the node and go down and un-click publish, then save, the node still stays published. Then, if I go to manage content and try to unpublish using that interface, the same thing happens....
Any tips? Anything? This is a weird and unexpected problem.

archimedes commentedI'm facing the reverse problem (unpublished nodes won't publish). I'm not sure how to solve either issue, except to say that Workflow does tend to take control of the publishing states. Have you set up rules that publish the nodes when they transition to the "paid" state?

Bastlynn commentedThis probably has more to do with your unnamed utility than with Workflow. Make sure it's not re-publishing your nodes when you unpublish them (or vice versa). Workflow is fairly passive about changing states leaving it up to end users, action/triggers, rules or other modules to make the change. Workflow just keeps track of the state.
Since this request is over a year old, I'm going to assume a solution was found or you've moved on. If not, please get updated to the latest versions of all modules and make a request for it against Drupal 7 and I'll be glad to take a look at it.
