It seems permissions don't work for free tags, I saw an old post about the from long ago for 5.x???

Indeed. It seems that when I saw the 6.x branch, I worked immediately on it without checking its content. I don't know why the issue #162930: Not restricting freetagging vocabularies in node form was fixed in 2007 but the 6.x branch doesn't have it :(

Committed to CVS. Please check the dev release. I'll release the 6.x-1.2 if the fix is confirmed.

Seems to be properly fixed in dev although I am only starting with this module (started with 1.1 an hour ago and switched to dev now).
