This module, aside from being riddled with ill-looking code, simply does not function in Drupal 4.7. In addition to this fact, the filter module only contains CSS coding for 2 languages (despite the fact that the Read Me suggests that it supports a sub-set of all the languages that GeSHi normally supports.) Those 2 languages are PHP and C#.
The actual GeSHi tool -- which one can download directly -- supports many dozens of languages.
Please note that this Module download DOES NOT CONTAIN THE LATEST GESHI RELEASE. You will have to download the real GeSHi for yourself and find some other way to integrate that with Drupal. (There are already 4 modules which purport to do this. I will now try the final 2, even though they are not designed for Drupal 4.7.)
This module, as is, is not a very fruitful download, IMO.

Actually, it was designed in drupal 4.7 and for drupal 4.7. It works on my drupal 4.7 and i'm not the only one...
There stills is some bugs, that's why this module is tagged as "cvs" but fixes are in progress.
the provided css contains a generic highlight code. It's up to you to increase its efficacity addind specific css classes. and please share your work !
???
This module does not contain any geshi release. You have to download it on the official geshi homepage.
I'm not sure you will have best results, this module comes from the others...
so join our forces and please work on it !!! The first step could be to provide a better bug description than this? Wich drupal release are you using? Which code did you submit ? What html did it produce ? What others filters did you enable ? etc ...

inkfree commentedYes, 'dpdev', you are right. My bug report was not very "reporty", was it?
Not to mention: Because of the multitude of simultaneously listed GeSHi filters, I posted about the entirely wrong version. Meaning, my notices to other users should have been directed to one of the other 3 GeSHi modules [GeSHi-4.7.0], and not this one.
Sadly -- I installed this one and it, also, does not function. My install of GeSHi works just fine alone, but not inside Drupal with this module. I am using Drupal 4.7.2 for final deployment and testing. I have 4.6.8 live, and use GeSHi there, with just some PHP snippets to pull in the rendered highlight. I think that I will stick with that system, in 4.7.2, even though it's more klunky to maintain.
I do see why there are a number of competing modules, now, since people are just doing whatever they can to get their version working. I will resist that effort, and if I come up with any useful additions to get this GeSHi filter to work, I will certainly post a patch.
Apologies for mis-directing my frustration to the wrong module (more evidence that the contrib system is slightly cumbersome.)
Regards.
