Date options and site preferences

Date options are very nice. It would be cool if a calender appeared but this is not my request. My request is to ask and definitely display the dates according to the site preferences. For example, my site's date style is DD/MM/YYYY but when asked it askes like Month Day list box and a year textfield and displayes in the form of MM/DD/YYYY.

Probably using unix date system to save the data would be best. BTW, great option to be able to write "today" as a default option.
