I installed the phpbbforum module and have godaddy. I put the phpforum on domain.com/forums. Im lost already and dont know what to do next.

I don't think there is an elegent solution to tie phpbb to drupal. If you want users to be able to post on the phpbb forum using their drupal username, I think you are SOL.

while the core drupal forum functional is pretty bare compared to a standalone forum like phpbb, there are user contributed module such as Advanced Forum (http://drupal.org/project/advanced_forum) which do a pretty good job. It also makes it a lot easier for you.
