I don't know if this is actually possible given the information Views gives you but I figured it didn't hurt to ask. :)

On my site, I have an exposed filter with a list of all forums. You can choose the forums you want to see topics from. By default, all forums are selected. When I changed over to using SE, no forums were selected but the view was still showing all topics. That was a little confusing but I could live with that. A worse problem happened when I selected one forum and then tried to go back to no forums selected; it's not possible. When I uncheck the forum and then click "apply", the forum gets checked again. The only way to go back to viewing all forums is to check all the forums, which is not how we started out so it's confusing.

What would make the most sense, to me, is to have it default to all forums checked just like in the normal, Views provided, control. Also, there really should be a way to get it to accept not selecting anything, even if that makes for an empty view.

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I quickly set up a clean sandbox with 50 forum nodes and 10 terms.
Then set up a view as seen on the attached screenshot. My observations:
a) All the selected terms in views were selected by SE on the display side.
b) Unchecking all of them was a pain. :)
c) After I unchecked all and clicked apply, nothing changed. All were selected. Then I turned off SE and realized that plain views filter behaves the same way. Weird indeed.
d) After checking "Limit list to selected items" in exposed filter's settings, above seemed to work.

I do agree we need a way to enable users to check/uncheck all options, however we still have to deal with this weird philosophy of views.
