After importing all of the phpBB3 topics I see that all nodes/comments are marked as new. When browsing to the history-table in phpmyadmin I see that no of the imported nodes are listed there.
I've asked a bit around on IRC and the forum, but is it really impossible to mark all nodes as read for all users after import?

Mass close of D6 issues for this module as won't fix. Please see #1854186: Support for the 6.x branch.
