Sorry if this is a bit too general...

I have been asked about incorporating some of the content of our forthcoming website inside Flash containers - things like presentations and so on. I have said that it would be better to make all the content html as much as possible as that way Google etc can better index it.

I know Flash has improved over the years but am I still thinking eight that for good SEO HTML is always better than Flash?

I'm not an expert, but the first result on google, "google index flash content"

Google and other search engines are improving their ability to read into Flash documents, but the support is shaky at best, and considered experimental by many engines.

If SEO is important to your organization, then for practical purposes you should consider anything that goes into an SWF file as lost content. Not only it will be hard (or impossible) to index, you won’t have semantic control over it as you do in HTML (using headings and other semantic tags,) and it will also be invisible to the new wave of users on portable devices.
