peteThomas - August 3, 2006 - 10:53

This post is just to inform those in the Drupal community that the EU has just officially announced its call for proposals for the eContentplus programme 2006. If there are any EU projects in the following areas using Drupal, eContentplus
.
-- 'pre-proposals' (for tweaking/advice) can be submitted after 21 September 2006

Full details are at:
http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/activities/econtentplus/calls/in...

Basic info below will help you understand what kind of funding is available.
--------------------
Call for proposals 2006

The deadline for receipt of proposals is 19 October 2006, 17:00 Hs. Luxembourg time.

-------------------
The present call is open to proposals for indirect actions addressing the following
target areas:
– geographic information
– educational content
– digital libraries (cultural and scientific/scholarly content)
– reinforcing cooperation between digital content stakeholders (across target
areas)
Proposals must be submitted by a fixed deadline, following which they will be
evaluated. Proposals not meeting this deadline will not be considered.
-------------------

The indicative overall budget available for this call is €27.3 million as the
Community contribution. The indicative breakdown is as follows:
– Geographic information 30% (8.19 million)
– Educational content 25% (6.825 million)
– Digital libraries (cultural and scientific/scholarly content) 40% (10,92 million)
– Reinforcing cooperation between digital content stakeholders 5% (1.365 million)

-------------------
The Community contribution for Targeted Projects will be up to 50% of eligible direct and indirect costs. Indirect costs are up to 30 % of personnel costs.

The Community financial contribution for Thematic Networks will be up to 100% of eligible direct costs for coordinating and implementing the network. The co-ordinator is responsible for allocating the travel and subsistence budget among network members attending events organised by the network.
-------------------

Apart from the info above, I can advise that EU rules and tender procedures are always circuitous, ill-described, often illogical and difficult to understand for first-time users. There are specialised companies out there who target such funding -- they are likely to take their pound of flesh, but offer project management and networking expertise in getting partnerships set up.
