I was on the 6.x-1.x branch, but there were too many new features so that I decided to switch to work on the 6.x-2.x (which was last committed in 2007, strange?)

New features:
- API to support different VIE (Vietnamese Input Engine)
- Support for all major VIEs: AVIM and Mudim
- Allow site-wide settings for default input method (Telex/VNI/VIQR or auto), spellcheck...
- Auto-configuration for setting block (auto detect and bind handlers for radio buttons)

Possible features:
- Save settings as per user. The purpose is to suppress cookie usage
- Better support for WYSIWYG editors (with the current implementation, AVIM and Mudim support for CKEditor 3.x is limited and very buggy). I don't know how to do it now, if you are interested in, please create an issue.

2.1 has been out for a while. All features implemented, except the per user setting that has its own entry in the issue queue #833678: Per-user default settings
