I have Rubik set as my admin theme, but would like to be able to load up node previews in the site theme when an end users click preview at the node add screen. is there a simple way or module to assist with this?

just to add a bit more substance, when a separate admin theme is used for content editing, it would be great for an additional button to appear next to the preview or override the preview button on the node content editing screen to display the node previews in the site theme.

This seems to be something that wordpress core does better than Drupal.

This is a limitation of Drupal core's preview functionality. I could use some testers on pagepreview module if you're still looking for a solution.
