I couldn't find the forum/page that was discussing the drupal forums to look like phpbb, in the thread, many people inquired about a change to show the new posts indicator on the main forum/container page. I have attached a forum.module that has this feature, and also adds a setting in the admin for the threshold of HOT FORUMS in addition to HOT TOPICS.

It's working perfectly on my drupal website, any idea on how to make the image change on new comments along with new topics? That's a very big request by our users
