I'm planning to add Excerpt to my community site, but I'm afraid malicious/playful members would just add 100 lines of excerpt and take up the whole page. It'ld be nice if there's a simple way to limit that.

Also, for security reasons it'ld also be nice to make Excerpt text-only (instead of filtered html).

Yes and Yes. I would like a feature to limit the size of a teaser and to strip all html from a teaser.
