It seems there is a release with a higher number than the current best option that is actually quite old and buggy.

When using drush update or moving too quickly when updating you can miss the date and install an old buggy version of gmap that results in all sorts of problems .. some of which are noted below.

http://drupal.org/node/371134

If you could unpublish or update that release it would save the issue cue a lot of bloat from people looking to fix things that have been fixed for a long time already.

Cheers!

The 6.x-1.1-rc1 release should be the current one. Drupal.org should pick up the latest release automatically.

I can't see any reason why it has reverted or how I can get it back to how it was.

I've posted a support request with the d.o webmasters.

For reference this is the issue - #775232: Current gmap 6.x release is wrong version

According to d.o webmasters, after you have a stable release alpha, beta & rc releases aren't displayed.

I thought I remember it being there at some point but I might be going mad.

I have put a notice on the module page pointing people to the newer release and the problem will resolve with the next release.

I will do the same for location.

Sorry I hope I didnt seem pushy, I just wanted to relieve some support requests that may come into the cue.

Thanks for looking into it!
Cheers for the awesome modules!

Yeah no worries, I understand.
It is pretty annoying the 1.0 release being there.

Apparently it is something that has been changed not so long ago so I wasn't crazy in thinking it used to show the latest one :)

IMHO there should be a 1.1-rc2 as soon as possible, or a 1.2. the #623234: Views 2.7 - breaks field output - GMap marker info window (bubble) doesn't display fields correctly issue has been fixed since the last release, and is critical in my view. there have been other bugfixes since rc1, so unless there is a problem in the current dev, I think you should make a new version. 1.1-rc1 is a year old!

Yes, please make a new release.

Agreed; 6.x-1.1-rc1 is ancient and buggy, while 6.x-1.x-dev appears to be working (certainly it's had a number of bug fixes and updates applied that aren't present in any stable release).

Can has alpha [y/n]?

kingandy’s picture

Just to clarify: The issue here is not "6.x-1.1-rc1 is available, but the project page only displays 1.0".

The issue is "6.x-1.1-rc1 is advertised as Last Known Good, but doesn't work with current Views release".
(see #371134: warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()...gmap_plugin_style_gmap.inc on line 172.)

I'd recommend withdrawing 6.x-1.1-rc1 and rolling the current 6.x-1.x-dev as 6.x-1.1-rc2.

rooby’s picture

The problem is that drupal.org has changed so that alpha/beta/rc releases no longer display on the project page if there is a previous stable release (ie. 6.x-1.0). So the next release will have to be 6.x-1.1 to avoid this annoyance. (for further info see the issue I refer to in #1)

There is already a message on the the project pages of location and gmap modules that give a link to the rc1 releases.

New version hopefully won't be too far away.

No, this is the problem:

"There is already a message on the the project pages of location and gmap modules that give a link to the rc1 releases."

6.x-1.1-rc1 does not work with the current views module. 6.x-1.x-dev does.

As soon as I hear back from bdragon regarding the creation of a new version I'll let you know.

I haven't been co-maintaining long and don't want to create a new release without his ok.

subscribe. I had to install dev release to fix the info balloons bug. A new official release would be better, IMHO.

Related discussion:
See #664472: [master] Release of Location 6.x-3.1? for discussion on the next release of the location module.

Since these modules are a pair that issue is also relevant to this issue.

Bdragon has OKed me making a new release.

Will spend some time getting the location issues in #664472: [master] Release of Location 6.x-3.1? done. , primarily #606342: Views Argument Handler for Proximity.
And hopefully #774078: ExtInfoWindow for GMap - Styling the info window for Google Maps for gmap.

Then a new release really soon :)
