Is there any way a Views "Search" filter could be added based on inline ajax search? I would love to have the ability to define a very specific view, and have that view then filtered on every keypress in the search box via ajax.

The code that is already there isn't documented at all, but if you would like you can take a look at it.

What is already done:
- I made a settings page where you can select which view to use
- I've done something with saving the views results as a variable so that you don't have to execute the views query every time

That's about it.

I am also very interested in this module and the views solution, and would love to test it. Is the views solution included in the 6.x-3.x-dev version from 2010-Jul-29 ?

No the views solution is still under development. But at the moment i'm to busy to do a lot of work on the module.
