How to use group vocabs to browse content?

I desperately look for an acceptable way of using taxonomy to browse in group content.
To my knowledge, OG Vocab offers 2 features
- A "Group category" bloc
- a "By_terms" tab on the group page

However, they seem to be at an experimental stage and are not yet appropriate for production
- the category bloc does not allow views customization and misses public vocabularies (non group exclusive)

- the By term tab is weird, presenting tags as a simple flat list not including the corresponding vocabulary

- I tried Taxonomy menu, but could never set a views that keeps context from the Group

- I only succeeded at having a nice taxonomy browser from File Framework, but it only handles files, not normal posts.

Any help or experience would be much appreciated, as for now I have no way to offer a taxonomy browsing, which is of critical importance.
