This is in phase two? Shouldn't providing instructions to users be part of phase one?

With the new system, I agree with David that documentation should be rather at the start.

Also, I request that the page for the instructions have a different title tag than the project page, ie drupal_set_title('Git instructions for %project') etc.

phase 2 == when we switch Drupal.org from CVS to Git. phase 1 is just doing the CVS => Git migration on git.drupal.org standalone, as a sort of practice/beta test. It doesn't make sense to change the instructions on this tab until contributors actually have to worry about it. :)

But agreed, figuring out what to put here is one of the first things we'll need to do in order to move forward.

I registered the project name: http://drupal.org/project/project_git_instructions

And I just uploaded the first code to the new CVS project.

It's far from finished, especially the integration with the other VC modules will take some time.
