Installing this module is quite confusing (evidenced by the issue queue). Part of the problem is just that it's hard to tell when it's working, but it could definitely use some setup instructions.

1) Enable the module
2) Edit the content types you want to modify. Enable the "Construct teaser only from teaser fields" option under Workflow
3) (Optional) Add a CCK textarea field for use as teaser contents
3) Set up the display options for the normal and teaser views for the content type

Why creating of new CCK textarea field is optional? If I don't create such field where to put the teaser text?
Actually my problem is related most likely to FCKeditor. It disables newly created CCK textarea field - I see the field when creating new story but can't type in it. Because of that I use text field.
Before teaser to get showed I had to set proper permissions in "content_permissions module" section in Administer › User management › Permissions
