I have been using other CMS software for web sites, and other web based building software as well. I have been playing around with Drupal, and over all seems pretty nice, I have taken a look at the showcase and seen some really nice sites built on Drupal.
But I am in need of a few things, and searching through all the modules and scratching my head as to which one would work the best. Sooooo I turn to the community/the real users and developers.
Added :TinyMCE (much better way to edit the content)
Need:
1) A file manager - For images, video, sound / and then be able to use the media on the web page.
Much like the front page on the Drupal site.
2) Newsletter - We are already using one sooo I might be able to embed that into the site.
3) Facebook and Twitter Module to display content that is post on the other 2 sites.
Lets start with this and see what we can get together. Thanks in advance.

1) filefield (has replaced the core upload module for d7). That will get your files attached to nodes. You'll also want to use imagefield and imagecache for images, and swftools for audio and video (depending on the video format). And finally, views will create all sorts of listings of these items.

Also, regarding an editor-- you may wish to consider using ckeditor (either with the wysiwyg or ckeditor modules) instead of tinymce (which I found to be a pig).
