The City of Athens official visitors website. Much more than a visitors website, the site includes a database of local businesses and stores. Every hotel, restaurant etc, has its own username and password to update its information, and the database is shared with the affiliated website athensconventionbureau.gr.
Local businesses have access to update their own information, to post special offers, to subscribe to newsletters etc. The information posted is shared to both breathtakingathens.com and athensconventionbureau.gr websites. Breathtakingathens was built with heavy use of cck and views, the theme is -of course- custom and a few custom modules were built for maps, weather and frontpage functionality.

A couple of questions:
- How did you use manage to insert the watermark text on the right-side on the carrousel module?
- Did you use a weather module or was it developed in-house?
Thanks

The watermark, you mean the menu on the right? It's on the images, nothing special there. The weather module is custom.

yes, i was referring to this menu on the right. i haven't yet learnt how to do and hope it's easy to do. As for the weather moule, you may want to post it as a module if you can as it's really handy to users wanting to know about temperatures or volcano eruptions ;-)

Definitely Above Average Looks
I'm always looking for Drupal websites that don't look so "Drupal" - the look you tend to find when you browse through the Drupal templates websites. (Don't get me wrong, there's good work and good effort there, albeit rather standard stuff.)
The Athens website definitely stands out. Terrific menu carousel, very sharp menu implementation - although a few of the rotating images present a small challenge in contrast / readability (suggestion: dark backdrop on each link with 20% opacity). Good group-pages banner/footer theme etc.
Well done manolism.
