I quite like the Tribune module. Some questions, though:

  • how well is it maintained? Last thing I want is a module on the verge of being abandonned. Particularly, is there plan for a Drupal 7 version
  • would it be possible to hide the image insert text? I don't want my user to insert any kind of graphic smileys
  • could Tribune map to existing input format instead of using its own format? I want a tight control over input format and Tribune is an exception, since it uses its own format (i, b, u, s and tt)

Well...

  • The 2.x branch is badly designed and I'm not sure I will do any further release. I'm trying to work on a 3.x instead. 1.x had a release a few days ago, I'm still not sure if I will release a Drupal 7 port of 1.x or if 3.x will be ready when Drupal 7 is out, it will be one or the other.
  • Of course, just disable it in the settings.
  • Tribune 2.x allows that but 1.x doesn't, this is something I will be backporting when I have time.

Thank you for your high SNR answer. It feels like you are maintaining three versions at once. I understand the need for maintenance, but would not working almost exclusively on 3.x a beter approach? I am plaaning to switch to Drupal 7 soon (Drupal 7 will already arrive a bit too late for me).

Well, I don't maintain 2.x, but 1.x needs it - I am using it and I have to make it fit my needs.

For Drupal 7... well, to be honest I don't have much free time right now, so don't expect a release very long before Drupal 7 is released.

As you can see, I did not have much time indeed. Anyway, input filters are now usable on 7.x-3.x.
