IMHO the project description at Drupal.org is very unsharp.

What is the difference to audio module?

The project description does also not clearly state what exactly is possible with this module.

  1. For which purpose is the table presentation of all media files? Are there any use cases?
  2. What exactly is the new node type 'media-playlist' for?
  3. How is the streaming done? Are there third party libraries needed?

it's my understanding that the media module has been deprecated in favor of the audio and video modules.

Yeah, Media module is currently out of date. I'm working on an upgraded 4.7 version that is a pretty complete re-write. If you have an use-cases that you would like included, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

@rorris: I can't imagine any use cases which are not covered by audio or video module currently.
