If I have a very long text, is there some way of making it appear over several web pages (with "next" and "previous" buttons), but still be able to display the complete text in a "printer-friendly" display?

break is for teasers, not pagination
The [break] is for teasers of a piece of content, not for pagination of long entries. As far as I know, there is no built in pagination. Check to see if it's been requested already, and if not, consider submitting it (I could use that feature too)... http://drupal.org/project/issues/drupal
